◤ Enclosure
$66 Sleeve + sled + plate
A black-anodized aluminum sleeve with 3.6 mm walls, closed by two printed end caps with the TPU seal printed into them. Standing up, it is the size of a handheld radio. Ships with the full-capability sled, the one our fleet runs, so nothing is closed off.
In the box: the aluminum sleeve; the full-capability radio sled, PETG with bonded TPU seal (three SMA, two USB-C, M12, internal GPS nest); the bottom plate, PETG with bonded TPU seal; screws (M3 × 14 mm sled, M3 × 10 mm plate, M2.5 Pi mounting). Weight 12 oz.
Not in the box: the electronics, connectors and antennas. You add three SMA bulkheads, two USB-C panel-mount couplers, one M12 8-pin panel bulkhead and a ceramic GPS patch antenna, all standard parts. Full parts list with buy links on the build page.
Fits: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, Seeed WM1302 HAT with the WM6108 HaLow module, PiSugar 3 Plus, a pouch battery up to 60 × 110 × 13 mm. The Pi and HAT screw to the sled on the standard 49 × 58 mm pattern; the spine holds a Heltec V3 LoRa board; a 2.4 GHz USB radio reaches its antenna through the third SMA. Not a general-purpose Pi case.
Not running a 2.4 GHz radio? That third SMA takes an external GPS antenna instead. Want a different sled layout in the box? Say which one in the order note at checkout, or order it on its own below.
Assembled about 136 × 70 × 46 mm, antennas excluded. Sealed at both caps against rain, sweat and spray; not for submersion, and we do not quote an IP rating we have not tested. Black aluminum in direct sun gets hot, like any black radio.
◤ End cap · printed to order
$22 Any of 35 layouts
The antenna-and-port end cap for the Cicada Shell, printed in the layout you pick. Same part as the sled in the Shell box: PETG with the TPU seal printed into it, cleaned and fit-checked before it ships.
Every sled except the blank has the USB-C charging bulkhead. Layouts with a third SMA are for a 2.4 GHz radio; "internal GPS" nests the GPS antenna behind a window instead of an SMA on the face.
In the box: one radio sled in your chosen layout, PETG with bonded TPU 95A seal. Weight 6 oz.
Not in the box: screws (the sled takes four M3 × 14 mm, which come with the Cicada Shell), the connectors and antennas, the sleeve and the bottom plate.
Antennas is the bulkhead set on the face: HaLow on BNC with LoRa on SMA (the fleet standard), both SMA, both BNC, HaLow only on BNC or on SMA for a node without a LoRa radio, or a blank face to cut your own. Ports is the data-port row: nothing, one or two M8, one or two M12 Ethernet, M8 + M12, two USB-C, or the full rows with two USB-C and an M12 between them. Only the combinations that exist are listed.
◤ Digital download
$33 Print files · no shipping
The complete print files for the Cicada Shell's end caps: all 35 sled layouts across five antenna families plus a blank, the three sled seals, the bottom plate and its seal, and the BNC and M8 nut-driver tools. Print a different port layout later, reprint when your connectors change, print spares for the nodes you build for your team.
What you need: a printer that handles TPU 95A for the seals (direct-drive extruders do; Bowden setups fight it) and PETG for the sled and plate. On a single-nozzle machine the seals print as separate drop-on gaskets. The bonded, printed-in-place seal on the caps we ship needs a dual-nozzle printer.
License: personal use. Print as many copies as you want for yourself and for the people you build nodes for, and modify the files freely. No redistribution of the files, original or modified, and no selling prints. Want to do more than that? Ask us at info@cicadatak.com. The files are provided as is; the seals are water-ingress parts on a body-worn device, so validate your own prints before trusting them.
◤ Node · pre-assembled up to the radios
A CicadaTAK node built up to the radios: sled mounted, wiring done, firmware flashed. You add two boards with a screwdriver. No soldering, no crimping, no command line.
First-batch pricing announced soon. It lands here as a product when orders open.
Prices in US dollars. Florida sales tax is added at checkout where it applies. The STL Suite is a digital product: no shipping, delivered as a download link after checkout, personal-use license.
Made to order means no refunds. Digital files and printed parts are not refundable or returnable; a part that arrives damaged or defective is replaced. A defective Builder Kit is exchanged on return of the unit. The full refund, shipping, privacy and terms policies are linked at checkout.
The enclosure is a passive part. Nothing in it transmits. The radios you put in it are your own build; see the build page for the parts list and the Field Guide for setup. US operation only, as with everything CicadaTAK.
